More Awards for Special Projects
Our clients were again the winners when the Master Builders Association of NSW presented us with two prestigious awards on Saturday 13th October 2007. Our peers recognised our continued ability to meet or exceed our clients' expectations on diverse, demanding projects.
Campbelltown Private Hospital
This project won the Excellence in Construction Award - Public Buildings $10,000,001 -$25,000,000.
Campbelltown Private Hospital and Commercial Centre is a completely new Private Hospital developed by Caversham Property on a green fields site immediately adjacent to the Campbelltown Hospital campus. The project consisted of a 47-bed hospital and day surgery with three operating theatres, recovery areas and a range of patient care areas. Approximately 35 specialist medical suites were also provided over three levels, including spaces for Ultra Scan Radiology, Pathology, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Hydrotherapy, Cardiology, Metabolic, Rehabilitation and retail. Basement parking for 170 cars was also included. The project was delivered seamlessly using a Lump Sum Design & Construct contract, which involved the development of the preliminary design documents through to construction, completion, commissioning and handover of the building within a fixed time of 70 weeks.
Qantas Hangar 96 Alterations and Extensions
This project won the Excellence in Construction Award – Refurbishment/ Renovation/ Extension $10,000,001–$20,000,000.
The existing Qantas Hangar 96 was modified to accommodate the servicing and maintenance of new A380 aircraft under a "fast track" arrangement. Approximately 10% of the roof area was raised to accommodate the very large aircraft. The bottom chord of an existing 110m-span truss was strengthened and raised insitu. In-ground trenches and 3m deep service pits were constructed in water-charged ground. New permanent fixed and horizontally and vertically sliding aeroplane docking was provided to allow maintenance access to several types of aircraft.
