This year’s IWD campaign theme was “choose to challenge”. The premise being that “a challenged world is an alert world, and from challenge comes change”. As part A W Edwards IWD celebrations, we explored this theme with a Q&A panel chaired by AWE’s Ella Gibson.
We were fortunate to have three remarkable guest speakers Dana Adams, Alex Belcastro and Kristi McLachlan sharing their insights and experience in facing the different challenges each had on their career journey within the Construction Industry.

MIDCOAST COUNCIL NEW HEAD OFFICE
December, 2020
Congratulations to the A W Edwards site team on the successful delivery of the MidCoast Council New Head Office in Taree. Staff will begin occupying the building in early January ready for public opening on January 7. The consolidation into the new Yalawanyi Ganya building, which is an indigenous name for sitting or meeting place, will be the first time in the Council’s short, four-year history that all administrative staff have worked under the same roof.

A W EDWARDS JOINS AUSTRALIA'S BIGGEST PUBLIC TRANSPORT PROJECT

A W Edwards Honorary Chairman Bruce Edwards and Chief Executive Officer Greg D’Arcy signed a $370 million (AUD) contract with the NSW Government on Friday 20th October 2020 to deliver Sydney’s new Metro station at Crows Nest.
TOPSITE INNOVATION - CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WARRICK LANE TEAM

Congratulations to the Warrick Lane project team in being the first A W Edwards project to not only attain the TOPSITE accreditation flag but also achieve the Innovation level too.
To obtain the label, Warrick Lane had to fulfil 16 qualifying criteria from five topics and two bonus innovations approved.

Blacktown Hospital Emergency Department goes live!

Blacktown Hospital’s new Emergency Department went LIVE to the public on 7th August 2019..
The ED is a critical part of the new Acute Services Building delivered by A W Edwards.
This state-of-the-art health facility reflects the hard work and dedication of our site team and the collaborative relationship we have with Health Infrastructure, Johnstaff and the Western Sydney Local Health District.

Warrick Lane

Our Warrick Lane - Blacktown Redevelopment project was officially launched on July 4 with a sod turn ceremony attended by Blacktown City Council officials and by A W Edwards CEO Greg D’Arcy and members of our project team.
Speaking at the ceremony Greg D’Arcy said, “A W Edwards welcomes the opportunity to be part of the team on the Warrick Lane Project that will transform the Blacktown CBD into a vibrant and welcoming space for the community”.
SYDNEY MORNING HERALD HALF MARATHON - MAY 19TH, 2019

On Sunday, May 19th, the AW Edwards running team joined over 11,250 runners participating in the iconic SMH Half Marathon which is a 21.1km run through the Sydney CBD.
Our team had a fantastic result this year with a ranking of 13th across all participating teams and 3rd in the corporate division.
Port Macquarie Base Hospital Stage 1 handing over of keys

The official handing over of keys by A W Edwards, marking the successful completion of the Stage 1 Port Macquarie Base Hospital. The 24-bed Acute Inpatient Unit is a contemporary space which will deliver leading mental health services to the Port Macquarie region.

Port Macquarie Airport Terminal Upgrade
November, 2018
The $10 Million dollar upgrade to the Port Macquarie airport is due for completion by the end of 2019 and will see the airport transformed into double its current size. Passengers can look forward to expanded check-in areas, expanded arrival and departure areas, expanded security screening areas and improved baggage claim areas along with air-conditioning throughout and terminal Wi-Fi. Ochlan Parsons-King who is one of our carpentry apprentices at the Blacktown Hospital Acute Services Building, Blacktown was recently awarded 1st Year - Apprentice of the Year Award” at the 2018 MBA NSW Awards. A well-deserved win for Ochlan, a diligent and enthusiastic apprentice and a valued member of our site team at Blacktown.

A W Edwards received significant industry recognition at the recent NSW Master Builders Association - Excellence in Construction Awards held on Saturday 3rd November 2018. A W Edwards took home six category awards on the night. The USYD Women's College Langley Precinct, Camperdown, Australian Turf Club Multi-Deck Car Park and Facilities Building, Randwick, Rugby Australia Building, Moore Park and the Sydney Trains Engineering & Maintenance Hub, Clyde projects were acknowledged for their Excellence in Construction.

The Armidale Regional Airport Terminal Upgrade project delivered by our Port Macquarie team received a Master Builders Association Excellence in Building Award at the recent award night held in Newcastle on the 7th of September.
Congratulations to our project team for their outstanding delivery of the project which took out top honours for the “Extensions, Renovations & Refurbishments ($5million - $10 million)” category.

A W EDWARDS RUNNING TEAM RAISE OVER $42k FOR BEYOND BLUE

Our Richard Piper crossed the line in a time of 1:28:49 (88 minutes), which was only 23 minutes behind the overall race winner Joel Tobin-White from Victoria. Overall, Richard came 335th out of 9195, 306th male out of 5501 and 61st in the 40-49 age group. Followed by Tim Dekruif with a time of 1:34:49 (94 minutes).

The Blacktown Hospital ASB project team celebrated a significant construction milestone on April 29, with the NSW Premier, the Hon. Gladys Berejiklian MP and Health Minister, the Hon. Brad Hazzard conducting a ‘topping out’ ceremony on the uppermost level of the building.

A W Edwards muscles up for Tough Mudder

A W Edwards was strongly represented at the Tough Mudder Challenge held at Glenworth Valley on 19th November, 2017. Tough Mudder is a 16km obstacle course designed to test physical strength, stamina, mental grit and team work. In the face of the ‘worlds’ most challenging obstacle course’, our team raised over $2,400 as part of our ongoing campaign with the Sanfilippo Children’s Foundation.

Smoking Ceremony marks collaboration between Blacktown Hospital and Aboriginal Community

Blacktown Hospital has engaged with the Indigenous community to signal a new era of healthcare in the region. Aboriginal elder Stephen Williams ran a traditional smoking ceremony at the site of the new hospital building last week. Due for completion in 2019, the new building will provide state-of-the-art facilities and be a major tertiary hospital for western Sydney.

Helping the Humpty Dumpty foundation make a difference

A W Edwards is a proud supporter of The Humpty Dumpty Foundation, a children’s charity which for more than 27 years, has been purchasing essential and often life-saving medical equipment for sick and injured children in Paediatric Wards, Neonatal Units, Maternity and Emergency Departments in hospitals across Australia.

A W Edwards have welcomed local Indigenous business Bara Barang as the official site canteen operators at the Blacktown Hospital Acute Services Project. Loretta and Karsha from the Bara Barang team delivered a thank-you BBQ lunch for site workers today.
The canteen will officially open later in the project, providing traditional tradie favourites. A W Edwards is pleased to welcome Bara Barang to the site.

Things are looking a little different at Blacktown Hospital today as new pedestrian entries open for the emergency department and the main hospital. Blacktown Mount Druitt Hospital Project Manager Robyn Campbell, said the change allows us to maintain access into the hospital and university while the new acute services building is constructed.

Sleek & Modern - A New Look for Armidale Regional Airport

The new departure terminal gets the tick of approval from Armidale Regional Council and Local Member, Mr Adam Marshall, MP. The terminal and state-of-the-art baggage screening facilities forms part of a $9.2 million project. Council Administrator, Dr. Ian Tiley, said the expansion has been a ‘great economic driver for the regional area’. Stage 2 of the project is now underway, with the original portion of the airport undergoing complete refurbishment.

This annual event allows many of the A W Edwards running enthusiasts with an opportunity to participate as a team in this iconic 21km run through the streets of Sydney. This year, our team of 18 runners finished fifth in the corporate division and twenty-first in the overall team results. A fantastic effort and congratulations to all our runners. Our team ran in support of the Breast Cancer Institute of Australia.

The Bright Alliance, A Princely Appointment

The Prince of Wales Hospital is a $70m facility that houses the Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Cenre (NCCC) and the Australian Advanced Treatment Centre (AATC), known as 'The Bright Alliance' project. The NCCC will provide ambulatory, outpatient and radiotherapy services and the AATC will be the first purpose-built early phase clinical trial in New South Wales which will provide an environment specifically for clinical trial activities.

Yesterday A W Edwards hosted the 2015 Annual Charity Shield in partnership with Lipman and Richard Crookes Constructions to raise money for the Sanfilippo Children's Foundation.
A staggering $90,000 was raised thanks to the support of ErectSafe Scaffolding, Jones and Jones Master Plumbers and a number of other incredibly generous donors.

Wollongong Hospital’s parking woes should ease from Monday when the boomgates of the new $30.5million multi-deck carpark open up for business. From 5.30am, patients, visitors and staff will be able to access the facility which features 750 new parking spaces and is connected to the existing carpark and to the hospital via a footbridge.

Wollongong Private Hospital Team Celebrate

The Wollongong Private Hospital project team celebrated a significant milestone today with construction of the hospital reaching its highest point on 26 February, 2015.
To celebrate this momentous occasion a ‘Topping Out’ ceremony was conducted. The team put their own spin on the ancient Scandinavian tradition however by opting for an Australia Grass Tree, reflective of the bushland surrounds.

White Bay Cruise Terminal wins again

The White Bay Cruise Terminal, which A W Edwards worked closely with Johnson Pilton Walker Architects on, has won the Harry Seidler Award for Commercial Architecture in the 2014 AIA National Architecture Awards.
JPW were also awarded the Steel Architecture award for The White Bay Cruise Terminal.
Congratulations to the team at JPW for this great result.
NSW Premier Mike Baird visits Canada Bay Primary School

On Wednesday 29th October NSW Premier Mike Baird visited the AWE team at Canada Bay Primary School. The Premier was impressed by the project and all it will bring to the City of Canada Bay community.
The primary school will cater for approximately six hundred primary school aged children and is due to open in Term 1, 2015.
Minister says St George in good health with $41m hospital emergency department

State Health Minister Jillian Skinner had two important jobs to do when visiting St George Hospital on Thursday, October 16. Mrs Skinner started the day at 9am by opening the St George and Sutherland Hospital Medical Research Symposium.

Work progresses on new Lake Cathie School

Planning continues behind the scenes as the Lake Cathie Public School takes shape. The new school off Ocean Drive will have 10 classrooms, a library, hall, canteen, special programs area, administration, staff facilities, toilets, games and assembly courts, a covered outdoor learning area, sports field and a car park, as well as landscaping. Construction remains on time for completion by the end of the year.

These boots are made for being seen on the job

A W Edwards is supporting the McGrath Foundation by equipping site personnel with fluorescent pink McGrath Mack work boots. The organisation is the first construction company to support thr foundation in this way. The Tamworth Education Centre team was the first to step out in the pink boots ahead of the initiative's offical launch in December.

Bowling for a cause

A W Edwards, Lipman, Fugen, Mainbrace and Richard Crookes Constructions joined forces to raise $19,000 for Sydney teenager Liam Knight. Liam suffered life changing injuries when a metal rod pierced his brain in a horrific accident in January, 2013. The funds raised through the friendly bowling tournament will support Liam as he continues his rehabilitation.
